Our Story Keeps Growing!
Throughout the years, we have shared with you hundreds of pictures and videos of our work. Tanzania is more than 8,000 miles away from the United States, and for those who have not (yet) visited our happy place, it gives us great pleasure to share what you make possible, and to keep you updated on the vital work across the ocean.
This month, Faraja 2012 alumnus, Emmanuel Makala, put the finishing touches on a video he created, telling the story of the Faraja Fund Foundation.
Emmanuel’s work is a journey from the founding of Faraja School to our newest initiative launching Faraja Forward.
Our chair, Dave Tolmie, is narrator-in-chief.
We hope this video brings you closer to our mission, and what is possible when people open their hearts to the least fortunate in our world.

Welcome New Students!
Faraja’s 24 new kindergartners are settling in. Last month, we introduced you to Noria, Stanley, and Mbula. Today, meet Veronica, Noel, and Briliant.
Veronica comes from Kirima, a rural town in Moshi district, best known for the Nubi Cave—a refuge for the Mangi people that settled on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Veronica is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. We’ve already purchased a new wheelchair for her and she has started physical therapy.
Noel is 10 years old, from the city of Arusha, about 1.5 hours from Faraja. Like Veronica (and many Faraja students), Noel has cerebral palsy. He is awaiting his new wheelchair and has started physical and occupational therapy to help him with movement and function. He loves it at Faraja and his smile says it all.
Nine-year-old Briliant joins us from Tanga, a historic city situated on the Indian Ocean. Briliant is living with spina bifida, a birth defect that causes an opening of the spine. At Faraja, he will learn self-care and benefit from physical therapy and orthotics to help him walk.

And, lastly, a shout out to our newest resident, a gift from neighboring villagers who wanted our children to know about caring for animals. As yet unnamed, we are calling him Fahali—”Bull” in Swahili.
