Penye nia pana njia. (Swahili proverb meaning "where there's a will there's a way")
Faraja students demonstrate the saying "where there's a will there's a way" every day. The nearly 100 students who study at Faraja come from different backgrounds, face different challenges, and work toward different dreams. They receive comprehensive medical care, including orthopedic surgeries and physical therapy, wheelchairs, walking aids, and orthotics to improve their mobility. Faraja transforms young lives by offering hope and opportunity. The students work hard and live up to the Faraja motto: with education we can. Faraja students are determined to fit a whole class on the carousel on their playground!
Class 7 Spotlight
Saluting our Class 7 students during their final year at Faraja Class 7 students are preparing for the PSLE (Primary School Leaving Exam) and graduation in September. Meet Debora and Elizabeth, two of our Class 7 students who are working hard!
Elizabeth has hemiplegic cerebral palsy which causes her to move slowly and awkwardly. An orthotic device, a brace, and physical therapy provided at Faraja help to reduce the spasticity on her left side and improve her gait.
Elizabeth loves to laugh, likes school, and concentrates well in class. She is active in school activities and especially likes drawing. She hopes to be a teacher one day.
Debora is charming and somehow always gets someone to push her wheelchair. (She also gives rides on the front of it.) She likes to play all kinds of sports. Debora was born with knock knees. The condition was corrected although she still uses a wheelchair. Debora also hopes to work as a teacher in the future.
